Prerequisite
• Learners must be aged 18 or over.
• No prior dental or beauty qualification is required (foundation-level course), although a background in beauty therapy is beneficial.
• Learners should have (or be working toward) Public Liability and Treatment Insurance to practise.
• Basic understanding of health and safety and infection control is recommended.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
• Understand the anatomy of the tooth and the science behind tooth discolouration and whitening.
• Identify contraindications and know when to refer a client to a dentist.
• Carry out a full client consultation and informed consent process.
• Safely and correctly carry out a cosmetic teeth whitening treatment.
• Apply hygiene, health and safety, and cross-infection control procedures.
• Provide accurate aftercare and maintenance advice to clients.
Course Content
• Tooth structure, enamel, and causes of discolouration
• Legislation and regulations surrounding cosmetic (non-dental) teeth whitening
• Contraindications and when treatment must not proceed
• Client consultation, record-keeping, and consent forms
• Preparing the treatment area and equipment (LED/laser accelerator, whitening gel, shade guides)
• Step-by-step whitening application technique
• Health and safety, PPE, and cross-infection control
• Managing sensitivity and client comfort during treatment
• Aftercare advice and product recommendations
• Practical assessment on a model
