Prerequisite
? Learners must be aged 18 or over.
? A recognised qualification in aesthetics is required (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Beauty Therapy, dental/nursing background, or prior dermal filler/injectables certification), as this is an advanced-level course.
? Prior experience with facial anatomy and injectable techniques is strongly recommended.
? Learners must have (or be working toward) appropriate medical malpractice/treatment insurance to practise.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
? Understand the science of collagen biostimulation and how poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra) works within the skin.
? Identify suitable candidates and recognise contraindications for biostimulator treatments.
? Demonstrate thorough knowledge of facial anatomy relevant to safe injection technique.
? Carry out a full client consultation, facial assessment, and informed consent process.
? Safely reconstitute and administer Sculptra using correct dilution and injection protocols.
? Manage client expectations regarding gradual results and treatment timelines.
? Recognise and manage potential complications, including nodules and granulomas.
? Provide accurate aftercare advice, including the importance of post-treatment massage.
Course Content
? Introduction to biostimulators and poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) science
? Mechanism of action: collagen stimulation vs. traditional dermal fillers
? Facial anatomy, danger zones, and vascular considerations
? Patient selection, indications, and contraindications
? Consultation, facial assessment, and photographic documentation
? Consent process and managing patient expectations (results build over weeks/months)
? Product reconstitution and dilution protocols
? Injection techniques (cannula and needle), depth, and placement
? Treatment planning across sessions (typically multiple treatments spaced weeks apart)
? Health and safety, infection control, and sharps disposal
? Recognising and managing complications (nodules, granulomas, vascular occlusion)
? Aftercare instructions, including the 5-5-5 massage technique
? Supervised practical/hands-on assessment on a model
